Smart Meter Consent - QGEMS App

Welcome to the QGEMS App Smart Meter Consent knowledgebase article.

This article will guide you through the process on how you can grant consent for QGEMS to access your Smart Meter data using the QGEMS App during the registration process, or restart consent process.

Please read through this knowledgebase article with detail on both options. You can also use our support tool on our helpdesk to raise a support ticket or ask a question to our team.

QGEMS App Registration

The quickest way to provide your consent is by completing the registration process in the QGEMS App.

Open the QGEMS App and select ‘Create a free account’. You will first be asked to enter your email address and create a password, followed by your first and last name.

Next, select your property type — Home or Business — and enter your postcode. You can then select your full address from the available options. If your address is not listed, you will have the option to enter it manually.

You will then be asked to provide details of your energy supplier and tariff. Providing this information allows QGEMS to estimate your energy costs for electricity import, electricity export and gas usage.

Once your tariff details have been entered, you will be taken through the verification process. You can choose one of the following verification methods:

  • Stripe Verification – verifies your address against the billing details associated with your payment card.
  • Utility Bill Verification – allows you to upload a recent utility bill containing your name and address, which will be reviewed to confirm your details.

Once your details have been successfully verified, your consent can be completed and QGEMS can begin the process of accessing your smart meter data.

Please see the video below with further instructions.

Withdrawing Consent

As a user, you can withdraw your consent for QGEMS to access your smart meter data at any time. You can do this either by contacting QGEMS using the contact details at the bottom of this article or directly through the QGEMS App.

To withdraw your consent in the app, open Settings using the cog icon, then select Connections followed by Smart Meter.

This page will show the date on which you originally granted consent. Select ‘Revoke Consent’ and confirm that you wish to proceed.

Once your consent has been successfully revoked, QGEMS will no longer be able to access your smart meter data.
