Smart Meter Consent
Welcome to the Smart Meter Consent knowledgebase article.
This article will guide you through the process on how you can grant consent for QGEMS to access your Smart Meter data!
As a user wishing to consent to sending your Smart Meter data to QGEMS, there is 2 options available. Either complete the Smart Data Access Consent Letter and return back to QGEMS, or you can complete the consent process quick and easy using the online Smart Meter Consent app.
Please read through this knowledgebase article with detail on both options. You can also use our support tool on our helpdesk to raise a support ticket or ask a question to our team.
Option 1: Letter Consent
You will receive a letter asking to grant your consent for QGEMS to access your Smart Meter data. The letter will contain the Address of the property that will be sharing it's Smart Meter data. The letter outlines that QGEMS will be accessing your Smart Meter data
The occupier of the property will need to read through the letter and complete the fields.
At the bottom of the letter, please fill out the form, entering the current date, the date you moved into the property, or became the occupier of the property, your name in block capitals and your signature
Once you have completed the letter, please return the letter to QGEMS using the postal address at the top of the letter, alongside a copy of a recent utility bill (no more than 6 months old). Please make sure the utility bill includes the property address of the property you are granting smart meter data access for. We will use this document as proof that the person signing the returned letter has the authority to provide this consent.
Option 2: Consent Web App
The other option is to quickly grant your consent using the Smarter Meter Consent app. On your letter you can scan the QR code to launch the Smart Meter Consent app that will launch your unique URL. Alternatively, you will have received an email with a unique link to your email address. On the email, click the link to launch the Smart Meter Consent app.
Once you have loaded the Smart meter Consent app please enter your unique PIN number to authorise your account and login. Your PIN number can be found on your letter next to your QR code, or in the email. Your link and pin code are unique to your request to grant your smart meter consent. You will not be able to access the smart meter consent app with an invalid link or pin code.
Please see the video below with further instructions.
Withdrawing Consent
As a user, you also have the option to withdraw your consent of QGEMS accessing your smart meter data. You can do this either by getting in contact with QGEMS using the contact information at the bottom of this article, or using the Smart Meter Consent app.
Access the app by re-visiting the unique link from the letters QR code or the link in your email. You’ll need to verify using your unique PIN again, and you’ll be greeted with the revoke consent page. This will detail the date when you originally granted consent
Once you revoke you consent successfully QGEMS will no longer have access to your smart meter data.
